Community policing is, in essence, collaboration between the police and the community that identifies and solves community problems. The entire agency follows this philosophy and to further the efforts a special unit was established in 1994. The officers that make up this unit generally ride bicycles in their zones and also do foot patrol. The officers have established close personal contact with citizens and have been very well received.
