Cell Phone Program

Private citizens donate their unused cell phones to the Winter Haven Police Department so they can be in turned given out to senior citizens, victims of family violence and disabled citizens to have 911 at their fingertips.

How Are Donated Cell Phones Refurbished?

The donated cell phones are given to Triad/S.A.L.T. (Seniors And Law Enforcement Together) which are given to RMS Communication Group Inc, an international cell phone recycling company, to be processed. RMS determines the best use for all donated cell phones. Higher value cell phones are converted to cash which is returned to the local Triad/S.A.L.T.. Lower value functioning cell phones are added to the “Bank” of 911 cell phones which are made available, at no charge, to Triads/S.A.L.T. as needed. In addition, for each valued cell phone received by RMS, a donation will be made to Triad/S.A.L.T. for ongoing program support.

How To Donate Your Old Cell Phones

If your phone had a functioning battery when you last used it, please drop it off (with any chargers and or lighter adapters) at the Winter Haven Police Department. Please make sure to remove your SIM (Security Information System) card from your cell phone before you donate.
