The Winter Haven Police Department employs 85 Police Officers and 28 civilian support personnel. Our Department handles an average of 48,000 calls for police service a year. To maintain the highest level of efficiency, we incorporate state of the art equipment with on-going innovative in-house training programs.

Sworn Positions  -  Minimum Requirements

High school graduate from an accredited high school or have a GED
At least nineteen (19) years old
Florida Police Academy Graduate
Pass Florida's State LE Exam
Honorable discharge, if a veteran
Must be a citizen of the United States at the time of application
Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License
Must be of good moral character, have no felony convictions and committed no incidents of violence
Pass a background investigation
Pass a Polygraph Examination
Pass an Oral Review Board
Pass a drug test
Pass a Psychological Test
Pass a Physical Abilities Test
Pass an Entry-Level LE Exam
Pass a Medical Examination

Vacation - 12 days first year, increasing with tenure
Holidays - 10 days per year

Personal Days - 3 per year (from Sick Leave)

Education Incentive:
Associate's Degree: $360.00 (Annually)
